ZSE Welcomes TGIF!

Friday, November 3rd, 2006

1800-0000Local (0200Z-0800Z)

The Seattle ARTCC is proud to welcome the participants and friends of TGIF! On November 3rd, ZSE will host TGIF into Seattle International Airport (KSEA) with a full contingent of controllers.

You are welcome to fly into any airports in ZSE during the event, but expect delays on operations in and out of secondary airfields as our attention will be put on KSEA.

Pilots - Help us help you!

We want everyone to have an enjoyable and quality experience in ZSE. You can help us keep everything running smoothly by doing a few things:

For arrivals, please refer to the information below for arriving into KSEA . Knowing and following these routes will greatly expedite arrivals. Pay attention to the crossing altitudes & speeds on the arrival charts.

Holds are common during busy TGIF events. Please know how to fly a basic holding pattern and expect hold instructions at VORs or fixes along the arrival routes. For time and radio congestion, you may only receive abbreviated hold instructions such as "UPS101, hold north of RADDY at 12,000, expect further 0800Z, time now 0740Z". In these cases fly a standard holding pattern north, on the 360 radial inbound to the RADDY intersection.

Seattle-Tacoma International (KSEA)

Typically Seattle is in South Flow (Runway 16R for arrivals, 16L for departures). Winds may dictate a North Flow configuration (Runway 34L for arrivals, 34R for departures).

If you are departing KSEA, please file an appropriate DP in your flight plan or you can expect a delay in clearance. Highest priority by Clearance Delivery will be given to those who have preferred routes and/or appropriate departure procedures (DP) filed.

*USE CAUTION for ‘pop-up’ aircraft on Runway 34R. This is the default for MS Flight Simulator 2004 and ‘pop-ups’ appears several times an hour, particularly during high traffic times. During TGIF we will try to remove these aircraft as quickly as possible, but Tower will normally advise you of their presence and continue to operate as if they were not a factor! If for some reason you absolutely can not operate with the pop-up on the runway, please advise Tower and expect to be delayed. We appreciate your flexibility in dealing with this ‘natural hazard’ at KSEA.
