The holidays are just around the corner and that means food, family, friends and of course SHOPPING!! What better way to get into the holiday groove then a day spent at the malls, coffee shops and some of the best eateries in the nation. Did we say shopping? The NW offers the shopping enthusiast the best variety and quality of outlets. All you have to do is get here! Go grab your favorite GA, be it a Helo, Stinson, RV or Ultra-Light, or grab a heavy and head to the Northwest as Seattle, Portland and Vancouver are rolling out the Red Carpets to give you 5-Star service while you “Shop Til Ya’ Drop.”
ZSE will be furnishing full ATC during the event so that your focus can be on the task at hand, shopping. Now remember if you can’t find what you need at the malls in Seattle just get back in the cockpit and head on up to Vancouver or down to Portland. No need to do all your shopping in one place, right?
The event is open to any all pilots and VAs. If your VA would like to participate as a Fly-In or Fly-Out during the event please contact one of the ZSE Events Coordinators and we will get you added to the event.
Pilots:
The three primary airports for this event are:
- Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (KSEA) - Tower 119.90
- Portland International Airport (KPDX) - Tower 118.70
- Vancouver International (CYVR) - Tower 118.70
If the conditions are IFR, you can expect full IFR ATC services into these primary airports. We are expecting VFR weather within the Seattle and Portland areas during the event. We will be featuring a number of secondary airfields conveniently located near the local factory outlets and shopping centers.
In the Seattle Area:
- Renton Municipal (KRNT) - Tower 124.70
- Tacoma Narrows (KTIW) - Tower 118.50
- Olympia (KOLM) - Tower 124.40
In the Portland Area:
- Portland-Troutdale (KTTD) - Tower 120.90
- Portland-Hillsboro (KHIO) - Tower 119.30
- Aurora State (KUAO) - Uncontrolled - CTAF 122.7 - Contact PDX Approach for IFR services
All secondary fields do have published IFR procedures, however, expect ATC delays if requesting IFR service into or out of the secondary airports during the event. We recommend enjoying the tower services where available and maintaining VFR where able.
