ZSE Welcomes Saturday Scramble!
Saturday, October 14th, 2006
1600-1900Local (2300Z-0200Z)
The Seattle ARTCC is happy to welcome the participants of the Saturday Scramble! For our October 14th event, ZSE is fully staffing for arrivals to Portland International (KPDX) to simulate more real-world traffic flow. KSEA will also have some staffing to accomodate overflow and normal local traffic, but our controller emphasis will be on KPDX
You are welcome to fly into any airport in ZSE during the event, but expect delays on operations in and out of secondary airfields as our attention will be put on KPDX.
We want everyone to have an enjoyable and quality experience in ZSE. You can help us keep everything running smoothly by doing a few things:
For arrivals, please refer to the information below for KPDX. Knowing and following these routes will greatly expedite arrivals. Pay attention to the crossing altitudes & speeds on the arrival charts.
Holds are common during busy events. Please know how to fly a basic holding pattern and expect hold instructions at VORs or fixes along the arrival routes. For time and radio congestion, you may only receive abbreviated hold instructions such as "UPS101, hold north of BONVL at 12,000, expect further 0800Z, time now 0740Z". In these cases fly a standard holding pattern north, on the 360 radial inbound to the BONVL intersection.
Portland may be either in West Flow (Runways 10R/L) or East Flow (Runways 28R/L). Caution: simultaneous visual approaches may be in use. Only in severe south wind conditions will Runway 21 be used.
*USE CAUTION requesting the ILS for 28L when IFR procedures are in use. There is a bug in FS9 which causes a guidance error in the ILS for 28L. Be sure you have the patch (available for download on Avsim) before attempting the ILS28L in IMC conditions.
