Welcome to the Seattle ARTCC's (ZSE) Delivery Day!
Saturday, March 05, 2005
1600Z - 2200Z
The Seattle (S46) TRACON has a distinct advantage of having two major aircraft manufacturing facilities within its airspace.
King County International / Boeing Field (KBFI), which is located mere miles north of the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (KSEA) is the home of the 707, 727, 737 and 757. Having the distinct honor of seeing over 35% of the world's commercial jet fleet first roll down it's 10001' runway, it currently manufactures the 737 and 757 airframes.
Traveling about 40 miles north, you stumble onto Snohomish County Airport (KPAE) or "Paine Field", an airport which has a very special building located on premises. The primary assembly building is the home of Boeing's 747, 767, 777 and 7E7 (787) production. In addition to this, the primary assembly building is the largest building in the world, in terms of volume.

With the recent release of various Boeing aircraft (727, 737, 767 to name a couple), numerous pilots for all airlines throughout the world have been spending time in the Boeing simulators and are ready to deliver their brand new aircraft to their respective maintenance facilities for repaint. Come join the ZSE staff as we host a delivery day for all the aircraft rolling out of the assembly buildings at both KBFI and KPAE!
Below you'll find airport specifics and links to additional information. If you have any questions, please post them on the "Delivery Day" thread in the Seattle ARTCC Events Forum.
Look forward to seeing a bunch of pilots taking off in their new airplanes, just don't get too distracted by that "new plane" smell.

SNOHOMISH COUNTY AIRPORT (PAINE FIELD) - KPAE
Airport Diagram:
KPAE
Preferred Departure Procedure:
PAINE2
Preferred First Fix on Route: ELMAA (south - KSFO), SUMMA (south-east - KLAX, KDEN), MWH (east - KORD, KJFK), TOU (north - PANC)
Note: If you are unable to accept the PAINE2 departure (which is quite an easy procedure), here are a couple hints for setting up your route:
- All departures who will be joining a jetway who are departing in any direction other than north and northwest, will be routed to the SEA VOR (116.80) before receiving a turn to join their filed jetway. This is to ensure you will climb above KSEA and KBFI arrivals. Departures to the north and northwest, expect vectors direct to join your filed airway.
- If your first fix isn't one of the transitions on the departure procedure, expect vectors until you are well clear of S46 traffic before being turned on course.
- All major airports on the west coast of the US (KPDX, KSFO, KOAK, KLAX, KSAN, etc, etc...) Are actually EAST (magnetically) of KPAE, so please be sure to file appropriate eastbound altitudes.
