Advanced Airport Qualification

Goal: To certify a member for controlling (up to the level they are rated for) Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (KSEA) and Portland International Airport (KPDX)

The advanced airport qualification may be obtained at any time by an S1 or S3. It is required in order to be promoted to the C1 level. This qualification allows the S1 or S3 to control their certified positions, but at the airports considered “advanced” by ZSE (KSEA & KPDX). These airports are busier in traffic levels, or require additional training before logging onto positions at those airports.

For example, an S1 would be certified for Tower, Ground and Delivery operations at any controlled airports in ZSE airspace, with the exception of the advanced airports. As an S1 who has received this qualification, you would then be allowed to work Tower, Ground and Delivery operations at those airports, in addition to non-advanced.

An S3 would be certified for Approach operations at any airport in ZSE airspace with a TRACON, with the exception of the Seattle and Portland TRACONs. As an S3 who has received this qualification, you would then be allowed to work Approach operations at those airports, in addition to non-advanced.

Students (S1 & S3) who are interested in receiving this qualification should request training in the student forum. Once training is completed, and the Instructor/Mentor feels you are qualified to work the advanced airports, you will receive this qualification.
